June 26, 2009 ETA for Sunday is 8 am
We scratched fished all day with our 14 guys putting together 23 Albacore and 13 Bluefin tuna & 28 Yellows.
The weather is fair.
We liked the BFT sign in that they stuck around for a while a couple of stops, mostly biting at the beginning. Dan's BBQ Chicken was moist and delicious and as always the prime rib the first night was off the hook, PERFECT. Spots still open
on trip leaving this Sunday thru Wednesday, hop on!

June 24, 2009
Just returned from our 2.5 day with smiles all around. First day we saw lots of kelp patty Yellowtail and a couple of fair stops of Albacore. Day two went a bit further
and decided to try our hand at some tuna fishing. We saw good fish that didn't want to bite, but ended the trip with 47 Albacore, 4 Bluefin, and plenty of small Yellowtail up to 18 lbs.
Nice weather and a good spread out sign of Albacore from 40 to 200 miles. Looking forward to our next 3 day trips.Don't miss your opportunity to join Mike and the Vagabond crew on some action with light loads. We have lots of room on the
next several trips. To join us please call 619-224-6500.

June 18, 2009 HOME
Fishing until 2PM on Wednesday, anglers were able to land 80 albacore, three bluefin tuna and one yellowfin tuna. Gerald Kusumoto took the jackpot with a 39 pound bluefin tuna. Gerald's fish was the second to last fish caught on the trip. Second and third place jackpots went to Mike Livingston and Jeff "Panic" Squires. Mike's fish was 36 pounds and Jeff's fish was 32 pounds. Chris, Mike did not wait until the last minute to claim this prize.
Albacore and bluefin signs were very encouraging. Numerous mixed tuna schools were metered, those that wanted to play provided lots of action including a simaltaneous strike on a five person trolling team. Most fish were in the 14 to 20 pound range. Eddie Hagihara had the largest albacore, a 30 pounder caught on the troll. Clearly, the much awaited 2009 albacore season is finally here.
Space is still available on upcoming June trips. Anglers are encouraged to review the Vagabond trip schedule and call the office at 619-224-6500 to make reservations.
Good fishing from Mike and the Vagabond Crew. This report brought to you by Colpitts.
June 17, 2009 ETA tomorrow at noon
Tuesday afternoon, with near yellowtail limits on the boat, we spent our remaining time at the islands fishing for real deal mossbacks and
were not disappointed. As is stands right now, the jackpot will come from one of a half dozen fish taken off dropper loops.
As this is being written we are trolling for albacore and bluefin.
Adding to the anticipation are promising reports from boats that fished in this area yesterday.
Fourth year Chef and newlywed Dan Cramer nailed the fresh yellowtail burgers. Several anglers swore those were the best they ever ate. Dan took advantage of fish that was swimming 30 minutes before it was served.
Jig strike, got to go.
Good fishing from Mike and the Vagabond Crew. This report brought to you by Colpitts.

a fun day of school fish. Weather has been a bit windy. Had the most awesome Yellowtail burgers for lunch! More report later.

We started our day with a slow pick which is what I'd call the morning, we scratched about 65 nice-sized Yellowtail by lunch. We made a move for the afternoon and only picked up a few good-sized Yellowtail.
The weather is just perfect and we have seen plenty of fish. They just need to bit tomorrow.
Good fish'n,
Mike and the Vagabond Crew

Febuary 23--Long Range Coastal Trip Returns
We returned home Sunday morning with a couple of 20-lb class Yellowtail and mixed Rockfish. The group was a typical bunch of Vagabond regulars out for a winter break.
A good time was had by all. We got some nice quality Reds and Lings but you had to work pretty hard for the fish. The bite was slow most the time except for Friday late when some of
the guys put together some catches both on the Lucanus jigs and bait fishing. Excellent weather!!!
Check our new longe range schedule (refresh your browser) for our new trips, including our new sponsored Shimano trips. We have plenty of spots open on this weekend's 2 1/2-day Yellowtail & Rockcod trip. Come out and join the fun.
Good fish'n,
Mike and the Vagabond Crew
