The VAGABOND, with Michael Lackey at the helm since 1990, has built an excellent reputation for great fishing and outstanding customer service.

Safety is always the number one concern aboard the Vagabond and for your protection, it is a Coast Guard-inspected vessel. The Vagabond is built out of solid aluminum to withstand any weather and is virtually fireproof. She has a length of approximately 80 feet, a width of 24 feet and a gross tonnage of approximately 100 tons. For power she has two 600 HP diesel engines and two 50kw diesel generators furnish auxiliary power. Every system on the Vagabond has at least one back-up system in case of a mechanical problem. Navigation is provided by state-of-the-art electronics, including Differential Global Positioning System, Satellite Telephone, 2 Radars and a Comnav auto pilot system. The Vagabond is equipped with emergency first aid supplies and radios that can reach the U.S. Coast Guard from any place within our range. The range of the Vagabond encompasses all of Baja California, including the Gulf and up to 200 miles offshore.

The Vagabond is truly a deluxe long-range sportfishing vessel. She is equipped with 10 staterooms sleeping 2 to 4 people each. Most cabins have individual sinks, air conditioning and extra large bunks. The fresh water tank holds approximately 3,000 gallons of fresh water and a water maker is adding 400 gallons per day. Both heads are equipped with full-sized flush toilets and fresh hot water showers. Our spacious galley serves great meals three times a day and snacks or fruit in between meals. Beer, soda and bottled water are available for purchase. You are definitely going first class on the Vagabond.

Catching fish is as important to us as it is to you on the Vagabond. Our reputation depends on it! The Vagabond is equipped with electronic fish-locating equipment, including a new state-of-the-art scanning color SONAR monitored by Captain Mike Lackey and his crew of seasoned professionals. Our bait tanks, including a giant below-deck slammer, can easily hold over 350 scoops of sardines or thousands of mackerel. Our refrigerated fish holds can chill 12 tons of fish. The Vagabond is a fishing machine second to none.
