Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a reservation?
We have instituted a new reservation system called KORE. To book a trip you will need to create an account and follow all the on screen prompts. There are two ways to create an account. You will see clickable buttons under the "Manage My Account" tab or you can go to the "Trip Schedule & On-line Booking" tab and then find the trip you are interested in and click on "Book Now". You will be asked to either log-in or create an account. If you need to create an account just click on the appropriate button. If you already have an account you will need to log-in and then just enter your personal ID and password. You will then be taken to a page that has all the trip details and just follow the prompts to make a payment and book your trip. If you have any questions you can go to the "KORE System Tutorials" tab under "More" or click on this link to view the How Do I Book A Trip? video tutorial.
What is the cancellation policy?
If we receive your cancellation at least 180 days prior to departure, we will refund your deposit. After that, your deposit is non-refundable because we have lost other possible bookings for that spot in that period.
Do I need a passport?
We require passports or passport cards on all trips! You must bring your passport or passport card (you must use one or the other) to check in and it must be with you on the boat. We will have passport information in our system for manifests but you must have your physical passport in your possession at the dock or you will not be permitted to board.
What is the Mexican fishing permit fee? If I already have a Mexican fishing license can I use that?
The Mexican fishing permit fee is applied to all sportfishing boats that fish Mexican waters. We must purchase a permit for each passenger for each day of fishing on the boat (to be filled in with the passenger’s name and city). The permit price varies according to the Mexican officials but it is included on the balance on your receipt.
The Mexican fishing licenses that you can purchase at Fisherman’s Landing for $53.00 is only applicable on trips of less than 3 days. Those are mainly for private boats.

I’m at the dock, now what do I do?
Parking is available at the Point Loma Sportfishing Landing at a cost of $8.00 per day. However, parking can be full and the lot attendant can direct you to alternate lots.
When you arrive please check in at the Vagabond office upstairs at the middle landing, Point Loma Sportfishing. At this time you’ll receive your stateroom assignment and your tag number. The tags with your number are applied to your fish and the number is also your rod rack assignment. Each passenger has 3 rod rack spots and add’l rods may be placed toward the bow of the boat. Please let us know if you need loaner rods at this time.
Once the boat has been cleared for boarding, you may load your rods into the assigned racks and place your tackle boxes on the tackle box racks on either side of the galley doors. Your staterooms are also available at this time.
What can I do with all the fish I catch?
Your catch will arrive back at the dock, fresh and whole. We feature RSW (refrigerated salt water) and are able to provide you with sashimi grade fish. Various excellent fish processors will be there to meet the boat. Please check their websites for pricing. You should bring some type of fish handling gloves as the fish are carted from the boat and are spread out according to your number.
